Radiation Safety and Regulatory Compliance
OMPC has years of experience in providing policies and procedures to medical facilities to maintain compliance with all Ohio Department of Health regulations regarding radiation safety.
If you need to start your program from scratch or touch up an existing program, we can assist you. Our staff has over a decade of experience with Ohio’s regulatory agencies – we know how to comply with Ohio’s regulations and our program has been field-tested over many inspections throughout the years.
OMPC can supply pre-made policies and procedures, tailored to your specific needs. As new regulations come into effect or old regulations undergo changes, we inform you of the impact that will have on your operation and take the steps necessary to keep you in compliance. We don’t just drop a manual on your desk – we are available throughout the year for consultation, so when problems or questions arise, we get you the answers you need beforehand, not just point out deficiencies after the fact. Certified Radiation Expert Services
By Ohio regulation, hospitals must have the services of a Certified Radiation Expert (CRE). Our experienced Certified Radiation Experts will perform a thorough annual audit, as required by Ohio regulation, plus mandatory quarterly reports.
We also attend your Quality Assurance/Radiation Safety meetings to answer questions and make ourselves available for consultation. Ask yourself – is my CRE preventing my inspection citations or causing them?
OMPC works with you to ensure compliance – your inspection is our inspection. Our annual CRE audit is right in line with the inspection criteria used by the Ohio Department of Health, so our thorough review is excellent preparation. Once the audit is done, we work alongside you to correct any deficiencies found, providing policies, procedures and training as needed. You won’t just see us annually, however, as we attend your quarterly meetings and make ourselves available throughout the year as issues arise. We also keep you informed of any pending or new regulations that require action so you don’t find out about the latest requirements the hard way.
Area Surveys
As per Ohio Department of Health regulations, permanently installed x-ray equipment must be evaluated by a Radiation Expert for compliance with public dose limits prior to patient use.
We have the experienced staff and equipment to evaluate your newly installed or existing shielding to definitively determine if you are in compliance.
We provide all necessary equipment in order to measure leakage radiation from all types of shielded facilities. We provide a clear, concise report for regulatory review and we often leave the report on-site immediately after completion.
Shielding Design
We will work with your architect and design team to properly shield your x-ray, CT, dental or PET facility to a standard acceptable to the Ohio Department of Health.
Following the newest NCRP recommendations, OMPC works with your design team to shield appropriately, incorporating good design with appropriate shielding in an economical manner. We provide clear, concise recommendations quickly, so your design team can keep moving your project forward. As always, we are available for follow-up questions, revisions and clarifications once the design is done and being implemented.
Accreditation Physics Support
Whether it’s mammography, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, PET or Nuclear Medicine, OMPC has a proven track record of successfully assisting facilities through the physics portion of accreditation.
In fact, we’re so confident of our capabilities, we pledge to pay your re-submission fee if your accreditation fails due to a phantom image we have judged as passing.
Radioactive Materials License Auditing and Radiation Safety Officer Services
Whether you need routine auditing of your medical radioactive materials license or assistance in obtaining a license, OMPC has extensive experience with the Ohio Department of Health in both areas.

Routine/Acceptance Testing of Equipment
OMPC can test any diagnostic imaging equipment you possess: radiographic units (analog and DR), CR readers, fluoroscopic units (R/F units, C-arms and angiography), CT, MRI, ultrasound, dental units, PET units, gamma cameras, stereotactic breast biopsy, film/screen mammography, digital mammography and tomosynthesis systems.
Our procedures meet or exceed all Ohio Department of Health, Joint Commission, American College of Radiology and Intersocietal Accreditation Commission standards.
