Bryon Murray has been working in the field of medical physics since 1991. Starting professionally in the regulatory environment, Bryon continued his broad experience by working for several medical physics consulting groups in multiple states over the years. Bryon has performed evaluations of countless diagnostic imaging equipment as well as worked with several different major linear accelerators and treatment planning/software systems.
Bryon has been involved in the design and shielding specifications for many imaging, radiation oncology and non-medical and research facilities including PET-CT scanners, medical linear accelerators and HDR, isotopes in research and linear accelerators and imagers in industrial applications. Bryon works with architectural and planning staff to optimize the balance of radiation safety and cost-effective designs.
Bryon has worked over the years to continuously improve efficiency in linear accelerator commissionings and has completed many commissioning projects involving several treatment planning systems.
Bryon is active as an associate clinical professor in the School of Allied Medical Professions (SAMP) at the Ohio State University and was recently honored as an “Alumni Leader” and has been on the cover of the annual SAMP Alumni magazine.
Bryon is registered or certified in many states as a qualified radiation physicist and is also Licensed in the states of Texas and Florida, Bryon is A.B.R. Certified in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
As a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Bryon is professionally active, having served as President of the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the AAPM and continues to assist the Chapter in any way possible. Bryon has been appointed by the Governor of Ohio as a member of the Radiation Advisory Council and is currently serving that 5-year term. He is an active member of the rule-writing Radiation Generating Equipment committee which is part of the council and has been on the committee well before his appointment of the Council.
